According to Thames Valley Police, the teenager from Southampton, southern England didn’t enter any buildings. Security processes were activated within minutes.
The monarch aged 95, spent much of COVID-19 in Windsor Castle. She was enjoying Christmas at home with Prince Charles, Camilla and their other family members.
The man was arrested for breaching or trespassing on a site protected by law and being in possession of an offensive gun,” stated Rebecca Mears Thames Valley Police Superintendent.
The incident was reported by the Royal Family. She also stated that it had been made known to police and they did not consider that there were any other dangers.
It took place around 0830 GMT.
Charles and Camilla, along with other members of the royal family were photographed later in the day arriving at St George’s Chapel inside the Windsor Castle compound for the Christmas service.
The incident did not appear to have affected the plans of any royal family members.
There are very few security breaches in royal residences. One of the worst security breaches occurred during Queen Elizabeth’s reign. In 1982, an intruder broke through a wall and entered Buckingham Palace.
An ex-convict for murder pleaded guilty in 2016 to trespassing on Buckingham Palace’s perimeter walls and asked the monarch whether he was there.
The Christmas tradition of the royal family is to spend Christmas on the Sandringham estate, eastern England. However, this has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, she spent Christmas 2020 at Windsor.
The queen didn’t make an appearance in public on Saturday. The queen spoke in a prerecorded message for Christmas to the nation about her loss of Prince Philip who passed away at the age of 99. Their marriage lasted 73 years.
