WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – A current spokesman of former President Donald Trump stated in a court filing Friday that he had extensively cooperated with the congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Taylor Budowich (spokesman) stated in a suit filed in District of Columbia federal court that he had produced over 1,700 pages of documents, and gave approximately four hours of testimony before the House of Representatives panel.

At a recent deposition Budowich answered questions regarding the planning and financing of Trump’s speech to supporters near the White House Jan. 6, which preceded violence at Capitol.

Budowich’s lawsuit sought a court order blocking the House committee from gaining access to his financial records at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:)

Budowich stated in the lawsuit that the subpoena sought personal financial information which was not relevant to any legislation or any purported purpose for the Select Committee.

An unidentified spokesperson for Jan.6 Select Committee didn’t immediately reply to my request for comment.

Budowich’s suit is one of many lawsuits filed by the targets of the committee to stop it from exercising its subpoenas. However, it is the first to be focused on financial records.

Separate lawsuits filed this week by Alex Jones (right-wing radio host) and Michael Flynn (ex-Trump advisor), alleging that the Select Committee was unlawfully constituted, as well as its subpoenas to their testimony.

A court of appeal rejected this argument and ruled Dec. 9 that committee had validity. The committee could see White House documents Trump tried to hide from the public. Trump appealed the decision Thursday to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The subpoenas have reached more than 50 people and the investigation has uncovered more than 300 witnesses.
