LONDON, (Reuters) -A crossbow-wielding man was taken into custody after attempting to enter Windsor Castle where Queen Elizabeth celebrated Christmas. He was being held under Mental Health Act.

Police said that the young man, a 19-year old from Southampton in south England, was stopped as soon as he entered castle grounds.

The police stated that the man had been taken into custody after undergoing a mental assessment. He was then sectioned according to the Mental Health Act, and is currently under the care of doctors. After a search, the crossbow of the suspect was located.

Queen Elizabeth is currently spending Christmas at Windsor Castle with Prince Charles, Camilla and their other family members.

According to Mail on Sunday, the arrested teenager used a rope to scale a steel fence.

There are very few security breaches in royal residences. In 1982, the queen suffered the most severe security breach during her reign. An intruder scaled a wall to gain access to Buckingham Palace in London and then walked into a bedroom where she was sleeping.

The queen didn’t make an appearance in public on Saturday. The queen spoke in a prerecorded message for Christmas to the nation about her loss of Prince Philip who passed away at the age of 99. Their marriage lasted 73 years.
