(Reuters] – Pramila Jayapal (a U.S. Representative) has asked President Joe Biden for his continued attention on the social spending legislation. She also urged him not to ignore Senator Joe Manchin’s opposition to it.

Jayapal of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) stated in an opinion piece published by The Washington Post Sunday that the CPC is soon to release a plan of actions, including lowering cost, protecting family health, and tackling climate change.

“The Progressive Caucus will continue to work toward legislation for Build Back Better, focused on keeping it as close to the agreed-upon framework as possible”, she wrote in the newspaper https://wapo.st/32jgLRb.

Manchin, a Democratic Senator of the Conservative Party, rejected last Sunday the President’s “Build back Better” plan in an act that threatens the legislation.

Manchin’s decision prompted Goldman Sachs, an investment bank (NYSE:), to reduce its expectations for U.S. growth. Manchin’s refusal to sign the bill could result in the scuttling of hundreds of billions of funds for climate-related measures and meeting the Biden administrations’ climate goals.

Jayapal stated, “Taking executive actions will also show to those who are hindering Build Back Better that Democrats and the White House will deliver for Americans”, Jayapal said.

Manchin expressed concern about several proposals in Biden’s domestic policy bill. These include multiple climate proposals, and the extension of monthly child tax credit payments.

Manchin’s support in the chamber is critical, as Democrats hold the narrowest control margin and Republicans have united their opposition to this bill. Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Leader, has stated that the chamber will vote on a package by early 2022.

On Wednesday, the White House stated that talks with Manchin’s bureau will continue. Biden stated Tuesday that he was “going to get some action” regarding the legislation with Manchin.
