European Markets Open Slightly Lower as Holiday week Trading Begins -Breaking

The European markets were slightly less open in the early hours of Monday trading at Investing.com. At 1015 CET (0915 GMT/415 ET), the and were still flat. The was down by.3% while the was up by.3%. To observe Christmas, the FTSE 100 has been closed.

European and global stock markets are likely to experience a peaceful week because of holiday trading. However, many indices will close at all-time and recent highs. It remains to be seen what impact a Santa rally has on the markets.

Eni SpA’s (MIA:) loss of nearly 1% may have been due to oil trading at more than one percent in the early hours. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV – (AS::) also fell nearly 1% KONE Oyj – HE: Bayer AG NA (DE:), leads the index up, each one up.8%.

All eyes now turn to airlines and travel agencies as they try to keep up with flight cancellation concerns around the world. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. is currently up 1.8% due to its Spanish listing. Deutsche Lufthansa AG, (DE:), is still trading flat. Travel software provider Amadeus IT (MC.:) has risen.5%. Melia Hotels, (MC:), is also leading the Ibex. It has risen 1.5%.

Nel ASA, OL: is up 4.4% following news that it won two separate orders for $3M and 6M to fuel its stations and electrolysis.

Notable gainers in Europe include Stellantis NV (PA:) and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. Each up 1.2% Covestro AG (DE) – Up to 1% Cellnex Telecom SA (MC): Up 2.5%; Lonza Group AG [SIX]: Up 1.7%

This morning’s notable market losers include Worldline SA (PA): This is 1.4% less than the previous year. Delivery Hero AG (DE:), that is down 1 %, BE Semiconductor Industries NNV (AS;), down 1.6% Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class B (AS:), Down.9%, STMicroelectronics Nevada (PA:), Down 1.2%

Asian stock indices finished the day slightly lower. U.S. stock futures traded just above flat during early hours trading. Trades just over $50,000, up 1.5%
