Cybersecurity firm Reasonlabs, warns crypto users to beware when downloading the new Spider-Man’s ‘No Way Home’ Marvel series from torrent websites.

The company mentioned that it has detected a malicious crypto-malware infection in the Spider-Man ‘No Way Home’ movie. Notorious crypto miners are defrauding people through torrent files in Spider-Man ‘No Way Home’ series, according to Reasonlabs.

The crypto miner creates persistent exclusions in Windows Defender and then spawns an activity watchdog to keep it active.

Reasonlabs expanded on this by revealing that Reasonlabs had found Monero miners attached to Russian torrent files for the movie. According to Reasonlabs, this confirms that malicious files came from Russian torrent sites.

This case involves someone who placed a Monero miner in torrents of the movie Spider-Man: The Way Home. The file identifies itself as ‘spiderman_net_putidomoi.torrent.exe,’ which translates from Russian to ‘spiderman_no_wayhome.torrent.exe”

In the meantime, Spider-Man: No Way Home is now worth $1 billion. It is now the highest-grossing film in 2021. Reasonlabs recommends users to always verify that the downloaded extension is compatible with their intended file in order to stop people falling prey. This is not all Reasonlabs does. They are also working harder to find ransomware criminals.
