Investing.com – China Evergrande Shares of Group (HK.:) after indebted property developer claimed on Sunday that it made preliminary progress in resuming work.

China Evergrande Hong Kong shares jumped 6.08%, to HK$1.57 ($0.20), at 10:56PM ET (03:56 GMT) after climbing up as high as HK$1.60.

Hui Ka Yan Chairman of Company pledged to deliver 39,000 properties by Sunday. This is compared to less than 10,000 units in the three previous months.

Hui stated in a statement that “with five days remaining this month, it is imperative we do everything we can to deliver 39,000 units by the end of this month.”

Hui also exhorted employees to continue fighting day and night in order for sales to be resumed.

His pledge came a day after China’s top real estate regulator said to Xinhua News Agency that the government would resolutely tackle property delivery risks by some top developers.

China Evergrande has struggled with cash flow, selling its shares and assets to make ends meet. It is currently the largest developer in China, with liabilities exceeding $300 billion. The $82.5million coupons were not sent to the offshore company earlier in this month.

Fitch and S&P have downgraded China Evergrande to “restricted default” and “selective default” respectively after the missed payment.

New coupon payments of $255 Million are due to the company later today for its June 2023 or 2025 notes.
