NEW YORK (Reuters), a British socialite GhislaineMaxwell was convicted on Wednesday of recruiting and grooming teenager girls in order to meet the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

This is a brief explanation about what Maxwell will do next, the 60 year-old daughter and late British media baron Robert Maxwell.

WHERE WILL MAXWELL BE CONSIDERED?

Maxwell is facing up to 65 year imprisonment for each of five charges that she was convicted. She was found guilty https://www.reuters.com/world/us/maxwell-jury-resume-deliberations-after-judge-warns-omicron-risk-2021-12-29 of sex trafficking, the most serious charge she faced with a maximum prison term of 40 years.

U.S. District Court Alison Nathan was not able to say when Maxwell would face trial.

Maxwell is also facing two perjury cases that will be tried later.

WILL MAXWELL BE APPEALED?

Maxwell’s attorney has not indicated if Maxwell will appeal the verdict.

Nathan was adamant in his defense. He ruled, for instance, that the witnesses couldn’t testify anonymously, as Maxwell’s accusers. But legal experts predicted Maxwell wouldn’t be able to meet the strict legal requirements to get a guilty verdict overturned.

Her lawyers must prove that Nathan violated the federal rules of evidence, or that she abused her discretion and that this error affected the verdict in order to succeed.

WHAT CHARGES DOES THE WOMAN GET?

Two perjury cases relate to Maxwell’s allegations of lying about Epstein’s abuse in 2016 during her deposition in civil case. Maxwell requested that Nathan separate the charges against her in April.

Each of the perjury charges carries a maximum sentence of five year imprisonment

WHERE WILL MAXWELL BE GOING NOW?

Maxwell will be returning to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center where she was held in isolation since July 2020. Maxwell claims she was given moldy food by the jail staff and that her cell smells of raw sewage.
