By now, the – Elon Musk relationship is a solid fixture of the cryptoverse, especially in light of the interview he gave after his reveal as TIME Magazine’s 2021 Person of the Year, during which Musk explained why, in his opinion, Dogecoin is better than .

The meme coin saw one of the most significant rallies in recent years after he announced that Tesla, his electric vehicle manufacturer, would accept DOGE for merchandise payment.

Regardless of his unquestionable support for Dogecoin, during a podcast appearance with Lex Friedman, Elon Musk revealed that DOGE cannot be the official currency of Mars – much to the dismay of many.

Musk, exasperated by the imminent migration of human beings to Mars explained that Martian law and civilisations would not follow Earth’s rules.

Musk said that Dogecoin wouldn’t be Mars’ official currency. Musk believes Mars will have its own cryptocurrency once it is colonized.

Musk believes that it is impossible to sync Dogecoin between Earth, Mars and Earth due to speed of light. With Mars being roughly 20 light minutes away, he believes that “it is not going to synchronize properly.”
