Data shows that Paxlovid works best when used in early Covid-19 stages, according to the Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
Pfizer announced this month that Paxlovid had a near 90% success rate in preventing the deaths of high-risk patients. Furthermore, recent laboratory data suggest the drug’s effectiveness in fighting the rapid spreading coronavirus omicron.
We now have an additional antiviral medication for Covid-19, which can be taken orally rather than intravenously. It can also be used outside of a hospital,” June Raine, chief of the MHRA said in a statement.
