Cathay Pacific sacks two aircrew for breaching COVID-19 rules -Breaking

HONG KONG (Reuters), a Hong Kong-based flagship airline Cathay Pacific Airways (OTC.) stated on Saturday that two of its pilots who tested positive for Omicron have been fired. They were accused of violating regulations regarding medical surveillance.

Cathay stated that five of its pilots had been positive after returning to Hong Kong. An investigation revealed that some individuals had violated protocols.

Failure to adhere to medical surveillance regulations could result in disciplinary proceedings. Cathay Pacific stated that it had fired two of those involved. The carrier did not provide further information. It also stipulates that you must quarantine your aircraft after landing.

Cathay noted that “the actions of these individuals were extremely disappointing” and added it would collaborate closely with the health authorities to improve public protection.

Hong Kong officials reported Friday that Omicron, a variant of coronavirus, has passed the strict COVID-19 requirements. They also said the city had not yet received any cases.
