BERLIN, (Reuters) – Germany is keen to take advantage of its position as the Group of Seven President (G7) in order to boost economic recovery following the COVID-19 Pandemic and improve efforts for climate protection, Christian Lindner (Finance Minister) said Saturday.

Lindner posted a tweet saying that Germany has assumed the G7 presidency 2022. “The G7 countries stand up for freedom, democracy, and progress.” He said, “With this in view, we must overcome our pandemics and drive global economic recovery.”

Lindner, the party leader for the Liberal Free Democrats (FDP), said that he would like to see questions such as digitization or climate neutrality at the top of Olaf Scholz’s three-way government coalition.
