Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The NSE closed with the gain of 1.57%, a new one-month high. Meanwhile, the index rose 1.60%.

They were the top performers at the session Coal India Ltd (NS-), rose by 6.33% to close at 155.30. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NSS:) saw a 3.47% increase or 242.30 points, to 7219.60 during late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Cipla Ltd. (NS) fell 1.44%, or 13.60 points, to close at 930.50. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) declined 1.10% or 53.85 points to end at 4853.15 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS): was at 829.80, down 0.88%.

Bajaj Finance Ltd. (BO) rose 3.52% at 7222.30. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (BO) was up 3.49% at 16963.00. ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO) gained 3.31% at 764.75.

The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.13% to 4853.20 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.91% to settle at 829.70 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.30% to 1785.10 at the close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1385 to 452 and 34 respectively. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 2592 rise and 856 fall, and 133 ended unchanged.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was up by 1.42%, to 16.4525.

For February delivery, Gold Futures fell 0.13% to $1826.20 an troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 1.07 percent to reach $76.28/barrel, and March Brent oil, which rose 1.57% to trade at $79.00/barrel.

USD/INR declined 0.19% at 74.326 while EUR/INR dropped 0.33% at 84.3745.

The US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.2% at 95.815.
