LONDON (Reuters] – Britain doesn’t need to take new measures now against the Omicron virus, Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated Monday. This variant of coronavirus is “plainly less severe” than the earlier ones.

He stated that the only way to move forward is for the country in its entirety was to keep following the same path as before. We will continue to review all options, but I believe the combination of the things we do at the moment is the best.

Johnson has not imposed any restrictions on England, which is more than 80 per cent of the UK’s population, in spite of an astronomical rise in infected. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Northern Ireland have all enacted new rules.

Johnson stated that hospitals will be under pressure in the coming weeks. However, Omicron is “plainly milder than other variants” and the country is in a better position now than earlier during the pandemic.

He said that Britain has a very, very high level of vaccines and was working to increase its defenses through the booster program.

During a visit at a Buckinghamshire vaccination center, he stated: “The vast majority of those in ICU (intensive Care) have not had their vaccines and the vast majority – about 90% – have not received boosters.”

Johnson took limited measures last month in England known as “Plan B”, including wearing face covers on public transport, in shops and on buses, but did not order any restrictions for gatherings or business closings.

Sunday’s announcement by the government indicated that face covers would be mandatory for older children returning from school after Christmas.
