India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.02% -Breaking

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The NSE closed with the index increasing 1.14% and the gaining 1.02%.

These were the best performers of the session NTPC Ltd (NSI:) traded at 132.9 at the close, up 5.48% or 6.90 point. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (NS) gained 3.32%, or 4.75 points, to close at 147.80. State Bank Of India was also up 2.70%, or 12.70 points, to 483.50 late trade.

They were also the session’s worst performers Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) fell by 1.61%, or 8.00 points, to close at 489.60 Coal India Ltd (NS) fell 1.48%, or 2.30 points, to close at 153.00. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. was down 1.33% (or 11.25 points) to 837.70.

The BSE Sensex 30 top performers included NTPC Ltd., which rose 5.48% and settled at 132.90. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. was also up 2.73% to settle in at 210.50. State Bank Of India (BO 🙂 gained 2.69% to end at 483.50.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(BO:), which fell 1.2% to 837.95 late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (“BO:”) which dropped 0.90% to settle in 904.20, and UltraTech Cement Ltd. (“BO:”) which declined 0.85% to close at 7655.80.

Indian National Stock Exchange witnessed rising stocks outnumber declining stocks 919 to 879. 22 was unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange recorded 1808 rises and 1464 declines, with 102 remaining unchanged.

The was lower than expected volatility for Nifty 50 options by 2.02%, to 16.1200.

For February delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.36% to $1806.60 an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 0.80% to reach $76.69/barrel, and March Brent oil, which rose 0.75% to settle at $79.57/barrel.

USD/INR increased 0.29% at 74.588 while EUR/INR increased 0.38% at 84.3140.

At 96.215, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.00%.
