Verizon to delay 5G deployment two weeks, averting aviation safety standoff -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Verizon Communications (NYSE: ) stated late Monday night that it agreed to postpone C-Band’s deployment of wireless spectrum for two weeks. This was to avoid an aviation safety dispute which threatened disruption of flights beginning this week.

Verizon announced that it had reached an agreement to delay the rollout of its 5G network for two weeks, promising the security and availability of the country’s game-changing network by January. The announcement came after extensive talks with government officials as well as the Federal Aviation Administration. Verizon had been pressured by airlines, the White House and unions to defer its Wednesday rollout.
