Ford’s 2021 sales down 6.8% but finishes year with strong fourth quarter

DETROIT – Ford Motor’sAlthough sales declined by 6.8% last year compared with 2020, the automaker stated that it had made progress towards the end of the previous year to overcome disruptions caused in part by a continuing shortage of semiconductor chips.
Detroit Automaker announced on Wednesday it had sold 508,451 vehicles during the fourth quarter. That’s a 26.8% improvement over the third quarter. It also beat the industry’s drop of about 3% in three months.
Ford closed the year with 247,000 cars in stock. That’s 22,000 more than November, when there was a chip shortage that caused historically low inventory levels.
