BERLIN, (Reuters) – Germany’s cartel office stated that it determined Alphabet and its subsidiary Google satisfied the scale threshold necessary for them to be subjected to the expanded supervision it was given in order to regulate digital businesses.

According to the regulator, it is already looking at Google’s personal data use and Google News Showcase products under its new powers. The regulator also said Wednesday that further cases were being considered involving Amazon (NASDAQ), Apple(NASDAQ:), and Meta, the owner of Facebook (NASDAQ).

The regulator has the power to prohibit companies with particular market weight, from harming market competition.
