Is Moving Between Metaverses Possible? -Breaking

Sandbox: Can you move between metaverses?

“Metaverse” is the new big buzzword for a reason. The 2022 year will mark the most significant for the metaverse, as technology giants Meta (NASDAQ;), Microsoft (NASDAQ.) and Google (NASDAQ.) prepare to launch new products that focus on the virtual world.

Metaverse can be described as a space that allows users to interact with other users and a computer-generated environment. You can interact with the real and virtual worlds simultaneously by using it.

The metaverse is currently accessible via computers and smartphones, although it may eventually be available through advanced virtual reality (or augmented reality) headsets. The most important new software market since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 will feature technology that can facilitate enhanced virtual worlds.

In an exclusive interview with DailyCoin, Sébastien Borget, co-founder and COO at community-driven metaverse ‘The Sandbox,’ shared his insights on how interoperability between metaverses could be accomplished.

Interoperability Is in Blockchain’s DNA
Many different metaverses are available. Facebook (NASDAQ 🙂 has rebranded itself as Meta. Microsoft also announced that it would create a metaverse dedicated to virtual office solutions. You are probably familiar with Decentraland and Sandbox, gamified metaverses that allow you to play games. Second Life is also a popular choice.

Meta imagines that the metaverse will be the next interface to the internet. Although it remains to be seen if the internet can be made 3D, virtual, there is no doubt that many corporations have different visions of the possible metaverse. They will, however be linked together, much like the internet. The problem of how to move between different metaverses will need to be addressed.

Sébastien Borget believes that interoperability is a feature that inherently comes with using blockchain technology. The blockchain tokens allow you to use your digital assets (virtual land and avatars) across multiple decentralized applications.

The simplest picture we have of the virtual universe is the avatar. This is my 3D avatar. This is my avatar. It’s possible to have the exact same representation in every virtual world. But it takes work. [denizen]”The interoperability is possible, not only because of the connections, but all around the globe.”
Borget.

But interoperability, which is difficult in practice to realize and needs additional work to make standards, has yet to be fully realized.

Developers have the ability to gain access to the token owned by the user, and then give the token a new utility. Let’s take a concrete example. In an RPG, you can own the world. You can also detect another game [that]You are the world’s owner and can decide what you want. [this is]You are not allowed to race in this racing game so I will instead give you a car that you can use for my game.”
Borget explained.

The Gateway to the Metaverse are NFTs
NFT technology is one of the key to metaverses. It reached a $22 billion market value in 2021. As the digital gold rush continues, the value of an investment into NFTs is something under question in the secondary market, as more people make NFT’s than buy them.

NFTs are expected to be a viable market for the metaverse and gaming industry. Unique digital assets seem to be the basis of ownership in virtual realms.

This is a first in metaverse, with The Sandbox allowing users to show the NFTs that they have in their own virtual world and then giving them 3D representation.

We want to make a 2D picture into a 3D-animated character, that can run, jump and fight in various ways. This is a unique use case which can help increase the value of your community’s assets and connect you with more people.
Borget was enthusiastic

Sandbox allows players to play, create, own and monetize virtual experiences through the blockchain. The platform aims to empower artists, creators, and players to build the platform they’ve always dreamed of by providing them with the means to unleash their creativity and build a virtual world made and governed by its users.
