Investing.com — Mainz Biomed shares rose 40% during Wednesday’s trading. This is a slight decline from the more than doubled levels earlier in the day.
The rally was on the back of news the molecular genetics diagnostic company has entered into a Technology Rights Agreement with Socpra Sciences Santé Et Humaines S.E.C. Access to a range of new mRNA biomarkers.
Access to the portfolio will be used for future integration in ColoAlert (Mainz’s colorectal test). Mainz has the right to licence the global exclusive rights to the five gene expression biomarkers which have been proven effective in diagnosing colorectal carcinoma lesions through the agreement.
ColoAlert, a German-based company is marketing it in Europe via partnerships with third party laboratories. Additionally, the firm is preparing for ColoAlert to be approved in the United States by establishing a regulatory pathway.
Guido Baechler CEI, Mainz Biomed, stated, “Securing the exclusive license for this family novel biomarkers has been a great milestone for our Company. It provides an incredible opportunity to potentially uplift ColoAlert’s technical profile. This could make it one of the most efficient at-home screening tests to detect CRC.”
Mainz stated that it would now start a European clinical study to assess the efficacy of biomarkers.
