AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – One swinging a sledgehammer and the other a crowbar, twin brothers Steven and Brian Krijger grin as they take turns pulverising a Peugeot (OTC:) 106 spray-painted with the words “F*** COVID”.

The participants are members of CarSmash, a Dutch program that helps locked down locals release the anger and frustration they have accumulated over a pandemic. It is now entering its third consecutive year.

Since mid-December Dutch restaurants, bars and stores were closed. The government, which is trying to control record coronavirus infections, has not been scheduled to revise its actions until January 14.

Merlijn BOSHUIzen is a Vijfhuizen-based car dealer who says his clients spray paint “what’s most important” onto the vehicle they choose.

Julie Scott, a vocal coach and singer is located a few miles south of the Hague. She runs “Screech at the Beach”, which has similar goals. It was developed by Scott while she searched for something physical to relieve some tension that had built up from not being able work indoors.

Rozemarijn Kardijk, Julie’s client, climbed up and down to face the wind as it whipped off the ocean. She tried her best not to laugh but was unable.
