Investing.com — Nanobiotix (NASDAQ) shares surged 23% after the company announced that they have enrolled their first patient for a Phase 3 trial of treatment for head-and neck cancer.

The study is designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of radiotherapy-activated NBTXR3 in high-risk, chemotherapy-ineligible elderly patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer. This trial is a continuation of the Nanobiotix Study 102 phase 1, which evaluated safety and showed early signs for efficacy.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Fast Track designation to investigate radiotherapy-activated NBTXR3, giving it the opportunity for priority review and accelerated approval.

Laurent Levy is co-founder of Nanobiotix and chair of its executive board. “The enrollment of the first patient into our global Phase III study is an example of the unwavering commitment of our investigators and strategic partners,” he said.
