Starlink internet service has more than 145,000 users so far

Elon Musk’sSpaceX provided an update Thursday on Starlink, its internet service. The company had just launched two more satellites into orbit.

Jessie Anderson (SpaceX engineer) stated that Starlink now boasts more than 145,000 customers in 25 different countries during the webcast. This is an increase from the 140,000 users that were registered in November, but it also represents slower user growth.

On Thursday, the company launched from Florida a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 49 Starlink satellites to orbit.

Starlink is the company’s plan to build an interconnected internet network with thousands of satellites — known in the space industry as a constellation. It’s designed to deliver high-speed internet to consumers anywhere on the planet. SpaceX currently has approximately 1,800 Starlink satellites orbiting.

This is a slower rate of growth, with 5,000 new users added in just two months. SpaceX has added around 11,000 people per month to its service since October 2020, when it began.

SpaceX stated late last year that Starlink users terminals were delayed by “silicon shortages” and “which had an impact on our ability fulfill orders.”

SpaceX has been valued soared beyond $100 billionIndustry analysts credit this to Starlink’s market potential.
