WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Thursday, the U.S. Treasury stated that it allowed more flexibility for state, local, and tribal governments to spend $350 million in COVID-19 assistance funds. The Treasury also released new final rules about last year’s program.

Treasury stated that new regulations expand the use of funds available to recipient governments, which includes early education and child care services.

Final rules expand public sector employment support and enable a wider range of workers to be eligible for premium pay. The Treasury also announced that they will expand capital investments for eligible health infrastructure projects and water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.
