Amazon shortens COVID isolation, paid leave for U.S. workers -Breaking

(Reuters] – Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ) said Friday that workers will only need to be isolated for a week after being tested positive for COVID-19. They no longer have to wait 10 days as per the updated U.S. Health Guidance.

Omicron is a coronavirus variant that has caused an increase in cases in America and worker shortages at airlines, schools, and businesses. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people infected with the virus may be able to end their isolation within five days.

Amazon sent a message to employees, which was shared by Reuters. It stated that its new, week-long isolation policy went into effect immediately. A worker infected by the virus may be granted up to 40 hours of paid vacation, but this is less than the longer isolation period.

The message stated that you should not go to work when you’re sick. For those who have been symptomatic longer than one week, additional leave options may be available.

The Wall Street Journal first reported on the news.

Amazon, with its warehouse staff and logisticians numbering in the hundreds of thousands, is America’s second largest private employer. Walmart (NYSE 🙂 Inc. This week, Walmart informed workers that they would be halving COVID-19 paid time in compliance with the new CDC guidance.
