Mozilla Announces End to Crypto Donation After Being Criticized by the Creator

  • Mozilla said it’s pausing accepting crypto donations.
  • Jamie Zawinski stated that it is wrong to associate with the planet-incinerating Ponzi crofters.

Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organization behind Firefox, announced that they have stopped accepting cryptocurrency donations. The foundation stopped accepting cryptocurrency donations after receiving a significant backlash from Jamie Zawinski, the Mozilla cofounder. He had stopped providing service to mozilla.org since 1999.

Zawinski sent a harsh criticism of a Mozilla December 31st tweet. The foundation claims that cryptocurrency donations are accepted, despite the fact Mozilla started accepting donations of bitcoin in 2014. Zawinski announced on January 3, that they accept cryptocurrency donations.

Everybody involved should feel ashamed that they partnered with the planet-infusing Ponzi crooks.

Several community members also called on Mozilla to cease its appeal for donations and clarify how accepting crypto is in accordance with its mission of fighting the climate crisis.

However, Elon stated the firm was “concerned about rapidly expanding use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal.” Weeks later, he said the company will most likely accept bitcoin again once the cryptocurrency mining rate reaches 50% renewables.
