UK trade minister visits India to press on trade, economic ties -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters), – Anne-Marie Trevelyan is the British trade minister and will travel to India to meet with officials to improve trade and economic ties. She was speaking on Sunday.
Trevelyan and Piyush Goyal will have bilateral discussions on Thursday, as part of their two-day trip to New Delhi. The talks will focus on green trade and the elimination of market access restrictions.
According to a trade department statement, they were also expected confirm the start of formal negotiations on an India-UK free trade deal.
“The UK and India are already close friends and trading partners, and building on that strong relationship is a priority for 2022,” Trevelyan said in the statement.
“I will use my visit to promote an ambitious trade agenda, which represents the UK’s Indo-Pacific tilt in practice and shows how we seize global opportunities as an independent trading country.”
