Solana Network faces second-time degraded performance in this week

Blockchain has experienced its second network degradation this week. According to Solana, this was due to the increase in computed transactions.

In a matter of months, the Solana network experienced four incidents.

The original network capacity of 50,000 transactions per seconds (TPS), was reduced to several thousand. Solana stated that this was the main reason users experienced failed transactions. Developers are working on fixing the issue.

This latest problem occurred just days after Jan 4th, when users experienced similar issues. Many assumed the Tuesday attack was a distributed-denial-of service (DDoS). But Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko responded on Twitter (NYSE:) saying that it’s just the “pain of getting a new runtime commercialized.”

Amid these recent events, Cyber Capital chief investment officer Justin Bons said his disapproval of Solana and posted a series of tweets listing the reasons why he doesn’t support the project. At the same time, he claims that Solana is “consistently displaying a pattern of bad behavior” and “prioritizing attracting ignorant investors over good blockchain design.”

Bons also blamed security for the problem, saying DDoS attacks were not the only issue. According to Bons, DDoS could be combined with a 51% attack. With this, Bons claims that attackers can “temporarily gain proportional-staked control over the network by striking other stakeholders.”
