Boeing has transferred 340 planes to other airlines and buyers. This is an increase of the 157 jetliners it gave over in 2020. This was led largely in part by the 737 Max which regulators globally had ground for almost two years following a fatal 2018 crash and another in 2019. Airbus Monday announced that 611 of its planes were delivered last year. This is an increase in production from 2020.
The Chicago-based Boeing had 909 orders for jets and more than 700 Max models. Freighter sales were also a bright spot. It surpassed Airbus’ total of 771 commercial gross orders in 2021. Net orders, including cancellations, totalled 479. However, that number rose to 535 after accounting adjustments which add or subtract sales depending on the airline’s financial health and other factors.
