NSE close: The index gained 0.377% while the NSE gained 0.229%.
These were the best performers of the session HCL Technologies Ltd (NS-), which increased 4.31% or 55.55 to trade at 1343.65 by the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, (NS) gained 3.55% to reach 765.10 and a total of 26.25 points. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS) saw a 1.93% increase or 51.30 point to 2710.95 during late trade.
These were the worst performers of the session. JSW Steel Ltd (NS-), fell 3.3% or 26.40 Points to trade at 645.70 after the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NSS:) dropped 3.32%/38.80 points, to finish at 1130.25 Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd., (NS:), was lower by 1.61% or 6.40 to 391.15.
HCL Technologies Ltd., which rose 4.30% and settled at 1344.00, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd.(BO:), which increased 1.90% to settle in 2710.65, and Tech Mahindra Ltd.
Tata Steel Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 3.32% at 1130.15 in trade late. Bajaj Finance Ltd. (BO) lost 0.89% and settled at 7659.80. ITC Ltd. (BO) was also down 0.65% at 221.85 at close.
The India National Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing by 964-851, 17 ending unchanged, and the Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed 1854 rising and 1478 declining, and 61 ending unchanged.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was up 0.3% or 5.75 percent to $1804.55 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil for February delivery rose 1.42 percent or 1.11, to $79.34 per barrel. The March Brent oil contract rose 1.37 or 1.11, to trade at $81.98 per barrel.
USD/INR decreased 0.10% from 73.950 to 83.8075, and EUR/INR fell 0.1% to 83.8075.
The US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.1% at 95.895.
