NEW YORK, (Reuters) – A Trump lawyer on Tuesday charged the niece of the ex-president of the United States of America with trying to take advantage of the family’s legacy by suing Trump and his siblings. The lawsuit stemmed from her alleged defrauding of a multimillion dollar inheritance.

James Kiley of New York rejected Mary Trump’s assertion that she was informed about fraud by a Pulitzer Prize winning 2018 New York Times investigation into Donald Trump’s finances. He also alleged that he tried to avoid paying taxes.

Kiley stated that Mary Trump was made aware of possible claims by her aunt and uncle through a 2001 settlement regarding the estate of Donald Trump Sr. She also said she didn’t sue them until September 2020 because she had waited too long.

“She said the New York Times was similar to the Rosetta Stone (NYSE :),” Kiley claimed in the pursuit of dismissal. She was able to access all of this information in 2001. She just had to look at the information.

Kiley also claimed that Mary Trump (now a 56 year-old psychologist) wanted “round two” because of the scandal.

Are we really kidding ourselves? If Trump’s name was on the case, then this case wouldn’t have been brought. He stated. He said, “The plaintiff has taken advantage of sensationalism and politics in order to present a claim that should not get beyond the courtroom door.”

This case was sparked by the 1981 death, at the age of 16, of Mary Trump’s father Fred Trump Jr., older brother to Donald Trump. He left Mary an enviable real estate portfolio.

Mary Trump claimed https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-trump-mary-trump-lawsuit-idINKCN26F2RV that her uncles Donald and Robert Trump and aunt Maryanne Trump Barry were supposed to protect her interests but instead siphoned money away, and “squeezed” her out through the 2001 settlement.

John Quinn, Mary Trump’s attorney said that “Fraud” is something secret. “She did not have the knowledge and resources of the Times and was unaware that there had been fraud.”

Quinn indicated that defendants were “well short of” conclusively proving otherwise. Quinn recommended the lawsuit be filed.

Mary Trump has sued to challenge the allegations of fraud.

Justice Robert Reed is the judge in this case. He did not specify when he would rule.
