WASHINGTON (Reuters] – The administration of President Joe Biden is creating a new unit at the Justice Department to tackle domestic terrorism in response to last year’s fatal attack on Trump’s Capitol. A senior official confirmed this Tuesday.

Matthew Olsen (assistant attorney general for the National Security Division of the Department) stated that there is a “heightened threat from domestic violence extremists” at a hearing before Senate Judiciary Committee.

Olsen stated that the unit would be located within the National Security Division. It will “ensure these cases are properly dealt with and effective coordinated across the nation.”
