U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.51% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index gained 1.41% and the index gained 0.92% at close.

They were the top performers at the session Boeing Co (NYSE:) traded at 216.02 after the close by rising 3.21%, or 6.71 points. Meanwhile, Chevron Corp (NYSE.) gained 2.9% or 2.86 point to finish at 127.97. Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE.) was up by 2.27%, 5.21 points or 234.84 during late trade.

International Business Machines, (NYSE:) fell 1.60% (2.16 points) to end at 132.87 by the close. Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) declined 1.16% or 1.86 points to end at 158.66 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) was down 1.06% or 1.84 points to 171.25.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 16.98% to 423.80, APA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 8.77% to settle at 32.00 and Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:) which gained 7.16% to close at 34.70.

They were among the most disappointing. Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 5.27% to 221.39 late trade. Aptiv PLC(NYSE:), which lost 3.26% at 159.69 was settled at 159.69. Dollar General Corporation (NYSE;) was down 3.24 to 228.65 by the close.

Top performers of the NASDAQ Composite are Nutriband Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 rose 34.93% up to 8.15. Virgin Orbit Holdings Inc NASDAQ : was up 31.30% and settled at 10.57 TSR Inc (NASDAQ) gained 28.75% and closed at 11.150

The New York Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining ones by 2378 to 862. However, 129 closed unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange the numbers were 2575 up and 1193 down, respectively, and 223 was unchanged.

Shares in APA Corporation rose 8.77% to 52-week tops (NASDAQ:), an increase of 2.58 to 32.000. Chevron Corp’s shares rose by 2.29%, or 2.86 to 127.97 to reach their 3-year highs. Virgin Orbit Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares rose to new highs, rising 31.30%. This is a gain of 2.52 to 10.57.

The February Gold Futures were up by 1.26%, or 22.65 to $1821.45 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 3.94%, or 3.08, at $81.31/barrel, while March Brent oil fell 0.01, or $0.01, to trade at $83.62/barrel.

EUR/USD rose 0.4% to 1.1368 while USD/JPY rose by 0.01% at 115.29.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.4% at 95.597.
