BRASILIA, Reuters – Brazil’s extreme-right President Jairbolsonaro charged two Supreme Court members Wednesday with taking sides in the election this year and favouring Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva, a leftist leader.

Bolsonaro has been raging at justices Luis Roberto Barroso, Alexandre de Moraes over rulings that have affected his policies and investigated into him. This includes one regarding fake news about COVID-19.

In a TV interview, he stated that Alexandre de Moraes (Barroso) and Alexandre de Moraes wanted Lula to become president.

They might not vote for me but they do want to go back to the office of the man who stole the country for eight years. Bolsonaro commented.

Lula served as president of Brazil between 2003 and 2010. A year and half was spent in prison for corruption charges. These were overturned by the Supreme Court, so he can run this year. If the October elections were to be held today, polls indicate that he would have a strong lead over Bolsonaro.

Last month, Barroso ruled that all Brazilian travelers must have proof of vaccination. This is contrary to Bolsonaro’s views.

De Moraes supervises five investigations into the president, one of which is into falsely associating COVID-19 vaccines with AIDS.
