Despite the fact that banks are required to fulfill new global capital regulations, the European Central Bank does not expect them to exert “disproportionate efforts”. However, Andrea Enria, chief supervisor of the ECB said Wednesday.
Enria said to the French Senate, “Key areas such residential lending are easily susceptible to the building up of risks. The EU should never unilaterally impose more stringent rules.”
“On our side, we will ensure that we don’t ask banks to make disproportionate efforts.”
