WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Former U.S. senator Harry Reid has been laid in state at the Capitol. On Wednesday, Senator Harry Reid will lay in state in Washington’s Capitol Rotunda. This is in tribute to his death on December 28th.

He was 82 years old when he passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Reid was instrumental in securing the passage by Congress of President Barack Obama’s healthcare bill in 2010. This law passed over strong opposition from Republicans. The former president stated in his eulogy last week at Reid’s Las Vegas funeral that he couldn’t have asked for better friends.

Obama declared, “Without Harry it would not exist Affordable Care Act.” “Harry didn’t give up.”

Reid’s body should arrive in Washington on Wednesday morning. An evening ceremony with members of Congress will mark the moment when Reid will be taken from us.

The honor was awarded to him as the 34th recipient.
