WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – COVID-19 hospitalizations have increased by 33% and deaths by 40% in the United States over the last week according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Rochelle Walensky (CDC Director) said that U.S. case numbers, which are now being driven by Omicron variants, will peak within the next few weeks.
