WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S.-European Union Trade and Technology Council was established to repair strained transatlantic relations and improve the competitiveness of allied democracies with China. It will host a second meeting later in the year.

Tai didn’t give a precise date for the meeting when he spoke to an U.S.-European trade conference. The meeting would take place following the inaugural TTC conference in Pittsburgh last year. At that event, both sides agreed to improve semiconductor supply chains and curb China’s nonmarket practices. They also agreed to adopt a more united approach to regulation of large, global technology companies.

Tai stated in prepared remarks that “going forward, the Biden Harris Administration will use TTC to advance U.S-EU cooperation technology and innovation and advance our shared democratic value and protect fundamental labour rights.”
