UK, Oman agree to strengthen economic ties, boost investment -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters – Britain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to strengthen their economic ties to boost investment and invest in high-quality areas like clean energy. The agreement was reached following a meeting with leaders from both countries.

UK firms have an extensive history of investing in Oman. They accounted for almost 50% of foreign investment in Oman in recent years. This was according to Britain, which cited data from Omani National Centre for Statistic and Information.

According to the two nations, a Sovereign Investment Partnership was signed Tuesday in London by Gerry Grimstone, UK Minister of Investment, and Abdulsalam Al Murshidi President, Oman Investment Authority, for strategic joint investments.

Britain is close to countries in the Gulf, and has a strong strategic and military relationship. It will be looking at trade opportunities in the region in the aftermath of Brexit.
