REUTERS/Jim Urquhart(Reuters) – Here is a selection of communications Stewart Rhodes and his associates had in the lead-up and aftermath of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. According to prosecutors who charged Rhodes and 10 other members with seditious conspiracies on Thursday.
NOVEMBER 2020
Indictment states that Rhodes (of Granbury, Texas) started to disseminate messages via encrypted applications to his supporters in November 2020. This encouraged them “oppose the lawful transfer presidency power by force.”
He sent an email on November 5, just two days after his election. It stated: “We won’t get through this without a Civil War.” It’s too late. Get ready to prepare your body and spirit.”
DECEMBER 2020
Rhodes, on Dec. 11, sent a message through Signal to an invite-only chat group. He said that Democrat Joe Biden would take over the presidency and it would be a “bloody and desperate battle.” There will be a fight. It cannot be avoided.
On Christmas Day, Rhodes wrote that Congress would likely “screw” then-President Donald Trump over and the only chance he has is if “we scare the shit out of them and convince them it will be torches and pitchforks…”
JAN. 6, 2021
Rhodes stated that Vice President Mike “Pence” was doing nothing just before 1:30 PM on the morning of the attack. As I predicted.”
Trump is just complaining, he said. He has no intention to do anything. Therefore, the patriots take matters into their own hands. They are fed up.
Rhodes said that people who came to the Capitol weren’t members of Antifa. This is a loosely organized antifascism organization. Rhodes, who was a member of the mobs attacking the Capitol’s Capitol building, replied “Actual Patriots.” They are pissed off patriots. Pissed off patriots, just like the Sons of Liberty.
