Blinken calls North Korea missile tests ‘profoundly destabilizing’ -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – North Korea’s missile testing are deeply destabilizing, and potentially dangerous, U.S. Secretary Antony Blinken stated on Thursday. He also said that Pyongyang had not responded to Washington’s diplomatic efforts.

In an interview with MSNBC, Blinken stated that the United States has made it clear that they do not harbor hostile intentions toward North Korea. He also said that the United States is open to talks and will accept any conditions.

“Unfortunately, not only has there been no response to those overtures, but the response we’ve seen… has been renewed missile tests, something that is profoundly destabilizing, it’s dangerous and it contravenes a whole host of U.N. Security Council resolutions,” Blinken said.

He stated that some of it was North Korea’s attempts to attract attention. “It’s done that in the past. They’ll probably continue to do that.”

Blinken said that the United States and its allies focus on protecting them and making sure there are consequences for North Korea’s missile activities.
