ViacomCBS secures rights to stream Premier League soccer matches in Latin America -Breaking

(Reuters) – ViacomCBS announced Thursday that it had secured exclusive rights to stream the English Premier League soccer in Mexico on Paramount+’s service. This deal, which spans three years and is ViacomCBS’s first Latin American live sport offering, was signed by ViacomCBS.

Paramount+ will have exclusive streaming rights to English Premier League for Paramount+ in Costa Rica (El Salvador), Guatemala, Honduras Nicaragua and Panama. The agreement also guarantees Paramount+ non-exclusive streaming rights in Belize, Dominican Republic and Guatemala.

It was not known what the financial terms were.

Many people enjoy watching live sports events. Media companies pay high prices to have their games carried.

ViacomCBS (NASDAQ 🙂 has begun betting on live sporting events as part of Paramount+’s growth strategy. Paramount+ was launched in 25 markets last January.

ViacomCBS in Australia secured the broadcast and streaming rights for A-League Men’s and A-League Women matches, among other deals. It signed a multiyear agreement to broadcast matches starting in November. Barclays (LON:) FA Women’s Super League (BFAWSL), one of Europe’s top women’s soccer leagues, on Paramount+ and the CBS Sports Network in the United States.

Premier League has a reputation for being one of the best and most popular leagues around the world. This is why it attracts many fans across the globe.

Reuters published Wednesday that DAZN was close to a deal with Britain’s BT Sport to buy it in an $800 million deal. This will grant DAZN access to rights for the Premier League, UEFA Champions League games in Britain and Ireland.

Comcast Corp (NASDAQ 🙂 and the Premier League reached a U.S. broadcasting rights agreement in November with NBC Sports. The Athletic stated that the deal had a value of more than $2B.

The matches will broadcast on Telemundo (NBC), USA Network (Telemundo), Telemundo (Telemundo), and other platforms.
