REUTERS/Tom BrennerWASHINGTON (Reuters), – Washington’s subway system announced Thursday that it would delay returning trains similar to the ones that were derailled in October for another 90 days.
Metro DC, the D.C. subway, announced that it would not continue efforts to restore 7000-series passenger trains to service. It said this to let “engineering experts and mechanical specialists time to concentrate on root causes analysis and to acquire technology to measure and repair 7000 Series wheelsets.”
In October, a safety committee ordered that the subway remove 60% of the railcars it has after inspections.
