NEW YORK (Reuters), a U.S. prosecutor said Friday that Igor Fruman should be sentenced to 37-46 month imprisonment for helping collect harmful information about Joe Biden. He was a former associate and personal lawyer of Donald Trump Rudy Giuliani.

The Manhattan Federal Court filing stated that Fruman was guilty of obtaining $1 million from foreign contributors to “in order to have the money used to affect U.S. elections.” elections.”

It is consistent with the federal sentencing guidelines. Fruman will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Paul Oetken on January 21.

Todd Blanche is a Fruman attorney. He declined to comment.

On Friday, he suggested that the client be released from prison. He cited Fruman’s over two year stint in house confinement as well as his acceptance of responsibility.

Oetken also presided over an October trial where co-defendant Lev Parnas, another former Giuliani associate, was found guilty https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ex-giuliani-associate-parnas-found-guilty-violating-us-campaign-finance-law-2021-10-22 of violating campaign finance laws.

Andrey Kukushkin was another co-defendant who was found guilty in the same trial.

Parnas was originally charged with concealing a illegal $325,000 donation for President Trump’s 2020 election campaign.

Fruman’s plea was in connection with a separate attempt to obtain legal and recreational marijuana distribution licenses.

In his allocution https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/igor-fruman-ex-associate-giuliani-says-he-will-plead-guilty-2021-09-10, Fruman said he had envisioned making donations to Democratic and Republican officials in U.S. states where he wanted to operate, and sent a list of those officials to the foreign national.

According to him, although he didn’t have much experience in dealing with political donations rules, he understood that it was not the responsibility of foreign nationals to donate such money to America.

Giuliani had already enlisted Fruman, Parnas and others to uncover the truth about Biden (then a presidential candidate, now U.S. president) and Hunter, before these charges were filed.

Giuliani was not charged, and he has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
