WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The congressional committee that is investigating the attack on the Capitol Jan. 6, 2021 issued subpoenas to on Tuesday three attorneys who were part of former President Donald Trump’s failed attempt to reverse his defeat election result: Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell.
House of Representatives Committee demanded that pro-Trump lawyers turn over their documents to the committee and appear for depositions in February 8.
In a statement, representative Bennie Thompson stated that the chairman of the Select Committee expects lawyers to be joined by the almost 400 witnesses who spoke with it as part of their investigation into the attacks.
“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” Thompson said in the statement.
Boris Epshteyn (Trump’s political advisor) was subpoenaed on Tuesday by the committee.
