BERLIN (Reuters), – Volkswagen and Bosch signed a partnership to establish a joint venture to outfit battery cells factories by the end this year, Volkswagen stated in a Tuesday statement.

According to the statement, this venture will provide battery manufacturing systems and assist battery manufacturers with scaling up their production facilities.

Thomas Schmall (VW’s board member responsible for the battery plan) stated that Europe has an opportunity to be the world’s largest powerhouse in batteries within the next few years.

We are currently working on a European supply chain that is complete and localized for “made in Europe” e-mobility.

Manager Magazine reported Volkswagen’s and Bosch plans on Tuesday earlier, citing unnamed sources.
