Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The gained 0.14 percent at Sydney’s close.

These were the best performers of the session Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:) rose 11.20% or 0.980 to close at 9.730. Meanwhile, Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX 🙂 was up 8.92% (0.34 points) to finish at 4.15 Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:), was up 6.96% (0.120 points) to 1.845 late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Webjet Ltd (ASX), fell 3.52% (0.19 points) to close at 5.21 Medibank Private Ltd (ASX.:) dropped 3.24% (0.110 points) to finish at 3.280. Ingenia Communities Group, ASX: was down 3.19% (or 0.19 points) to 5.77.

The Sydney Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 801 to 655, and ended the day unchanged at 364

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.07% to 13.704 a new 1-month high.

For February delivery, gold futures fell 0.15% to $1840.40 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.37 percent to reach $85.43/barrel, and March Brent oil, which fell 0.541% to trade for $87.90/barrel.

The AUD/USD rose 0.4% to 0.7240 while the AUD/JPY saw a 0.52% increase to 82.85.

At 95.425, the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.08%.
