Burnt Finance secures $8M Series A funding

Burnt Finance was a cryptocurrency startup, which became well-known for burning Banksy original artwork, and selling it higher in NFTs. Animoca Brands led a Series A round that raised $8 Million.

Alameda Research and DeFiance are also involved in capital raising.

Multicoin has been involved in investing in the blockchain since 2017 and is one of the most popular investors. NEAR, MobileCoin, as well as several other projects, have been investments by the company.

Burnt Finance, following its investment will launch its multilingual NFT market. It will include DeFi features including fractionalization and liquidity mining as well as NFT lending.

It explained that the company’s platform will allow permissionless digital collectible access, and that it has low fees for fast transactions. The company also revealed that its Spark Spark testnet had only seven days and it already had over $100,000,000 in trade volume.

Yat Siu, the executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, said: “Minting and trading assets in a permissionless ecosystem is crucially important to the economic groundwork of the open metaverse.”

Burnt will have to do a lot for NFT markets. OpenSea and SuperRare are the dominant players in this space. Rarible and NiftyGateway also dominate it. Burnt could have an opportunity, as it is building on the Solana blockchain. It is also looking to expand into other blockchains like Terra.
