Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

NSE closed with the index falling 1.01% and the declining 1.01%.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session, rising 4.89% (10.00 points) to close at 214.65. Meanwhile, Grasim Industries Ltd (NS) added 1.66%, or 30.00 points, to reach 1836.50 Bharti Airtel Late trade saw Ltd. (NS) rise 1.66%, or 11.70 points, to 715.40

Bajaj Finserv Ltd., NS: was among the worst-performing session participants. It lost 4.53% (or 818.35) points to trade at 17258.95 by the end. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS) fell 3.73%, or 128.05 point to finish at 3308.75. Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. was down 3.9% or 151.75 to 4329.75.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (BO) rose 4.86% at 214.60. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BO) was up 1.60% at 715.30. Asian Paints Ltd. (BO) gained 0.81% at close at 3307.70.

Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 4.57% at 17260.30 in trade late. Infosys Ltd. (BO) lost 2.33% at 1824.15. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. was also down at close with a drop of 2.25% at 3827.85.

Indian National Stock Exchange: Rising stocks outnumbered falling ones by 912 to 899. 25 ended unchanged. Bombay Stock Exchange: 1709 rose, 1600 declined. 73 ended unchanged.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. shares (NS) rose to their 3-year highs. The gain was 4.89% (10.00 to 211.55).

For February delivery, Gold Futures fell 0.29% (or 5.35) to $1837.85 per troy-ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil delivery for March dropped 0.10%, or 0.09, to $85.71 per barrel. The March Brent oil contract, however, fell 0.34 percent or 0.30, to trade at $88.14 per barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.9% to 74.496 and EUR/INR rose 0.4% to 84.5265

At 95.535, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.04%.
