U.S. lawmakers call Tesla expansion in Xinjiang ‘misguided’ -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Subcommittees of the U.S. House on supervision and trade have criticised Tesla (NASDAQ) for its recent expansion in Xinjiang China.

“Your misguided expansion to the XinjiangUyghur

Autonomous Region is a bad example to follow and gives more power to the Chinese government,” said Democrats Bill Pascrell (left) and Earl Blumenauer (right), in a letter sent by them directly to Tesla Chief Executive Elon Tesla Musk.

Tesla recently announced it had opened a showroom at Xinjiang. This is the latest foreign company to be caught in the tensions surrounding the region of far-western China, where many have criticized detention camps.
